Mantic's Gargoyles/Harpies unboxing/review

It's time to talk about one of the most interesting kit done by Mantic in the kickstarter, the Gargoyles/Harpies Kit. (For general info about packaging and material just check my previous reviews)

• the same kit is used for both the Abyssal Dwarfs Gargoyles and The Twilight King Harpies, the only thing you can customize are the heads (there are several heads with horns for the gargoyles and several heads with long hair for the harpies)
• the miniatures are provided with a 25mm square base, this can be annoying if you want to use them playing warhammer
• due to the pose of the miniatures is quite difficult to properly arrange them in a unit, so try to arrange them before glue the minis to their base

	there are two kind of body and the kit contains 2X of one type and 3X of the other
	four different head styles, they should be useful to differenciate between harpies and gargoyles
	two different legs styles, both are attached to a column
	two different wings styles, as you can see the tail is attached to the wings
	the assembled miniatures, as you can see it can be difficult to arrange them in ranks

Mantic's Werewolves unboxing/review

Time to take a look at brand new Mantic's Werewolves, for general considerations you can check the Ogre's review, continue reading below for some extra info. 
(I got mine from the kicstarter but Mantic sells them as 3 models units or bundled with different army deals.)

Werewolves

The kit contains  3 bodies (2 identical, one different) 3 right arms (2 identical, one different) 3 left arms (2 identical, one different) 3 tails (2 identical, one different) 4 heads all different

You can give some variety to your troops mixing and matching the components, unfortunately the options are not that different from each other so if you are using lots of werewolves in you army they might just allo look as clones...

Winter is coming: a Game of Thrones themed army for Kings of War

I'm creating a Game of Thrones themed Kingdom of Men army for Kings of War, for the army list I'm playing in our local campaign I'm using lots of troops on horseback since I found out they are quite effective. Below you can see two five man Mounted Sergeants troop plus two Bannersman

I like Fire Forge Games mounted sergeants but I wanted to give them a nordic/savage look (they should be soldiers affiliated to house Stark after all!) so I used the horses and the bodies from the Mounted Sergeants while the arms, weapons, shields and heads come from Gripping Beast plastic Hirdmen

Kings of War 3rd ed pdf coming to Kickstarter backers this week

It seems that the pdf of the Kings of War 3rd edition rules will be finally delivered this week to the backers of the kickstarter project!

Nope: it seems there are some problem with the pdf, the release has been postponed

Mantic will start working on Army of Heaven Army for KoW

Mantic Games just announced that will start working to the Human armies expansion for Kings of War if the Kickstarter project will reach the 175K goal! More info at the kickstarter page.

Also note that the 3rd edition of the Kings of War rulebbook will be released on June 25th

Mantic to offer money prizes in tournaments

Mantic made a bold move! They are thinking about offering a money prize (above 1k gpb) to the winner of their official Kings of War tournament.

Kings of War hardback rules coming in June

Kings of War hardback rulebook is coming in June!
The estimated price is around 20 Gpb, for some further details check the video below. Edit: Maelstrom games shows June 23 2012 as release date, no official info from Mantic yet
(The downloadable rules for the new edition should be available around the same time)

First images of Mantic's Goblin

Folks over Beasts of war revealed some page of the upcoming new release of the King of War manual, one page showed what I believe it's the first picture of the goblin archers.

It seems that on May the 9th there will be some sort of announcement related to Kings of War! Is there an official relase date for the rulebook and the new rumored units?
