Mantic's Dwarf King Ltd Ed miniature pics

If you didn't know Wayland games was giving away some limited edition Dwarf King miniatures, the design is inspired by the cover art of Mantic's dwarf's war hosts boxed set. You can find some pictures below.

Avatars Of War crowdfunding dwarves army

It seems that also Avatars Of War opened a croudfunding project! They are planning to add more units to the existing (excellent) model line.

Anvil of Doom (Mantic' style)

I wanted to add an Anvil of Doom to my Dwarf army but I was looking to keep the same design of other units (most of them are Mantic games dwarfs):

• So I did a mold of the Anvil and the base using the Instant Mold
  
• I found some suitable models from my dwarf bits, most of them are from the dwarf infantry spure, the pointing hand came from the artillery sprue
  
• I added a small base to the runesmith in the bacground since I wanted him to stand a little bit among the others (you can see it in the last picture)

Valleyo colors bundled with AoW miniature

It seems that Avatars of War is teaming up with Valleyo releasing a 8 color box plus an exclusive AoW berserker miniature. Check anchar post on official AoW forum and studio Giráldez post here
The exlusive miniature appears to be an alternative version of the existing Dwarf Berserker with a different hairstyle and alternate weapons.

alternative Dwarf Slayers

Both Mantic Games and Avatars Of War released recently some great alternatives to GW Classic Dwarf Slayers, in this article I'll go trough some interesting options if you are looking to collect a dwarven army but you don't like GW Dwarf Slayers.

GW Classic Slayers: this unit is just available in metal right now so building a big unit might be a little expensive. At some point GW released some cool pirate/slayers models as mercenary unit and some even crazier units for the Storm of Chaos campaign but they never went too far from the original concept They still looks fine but some people might find them a little outdated.

Rackham Dwarves: unfortunately they are out of production but you can still find them around (ebay anyone?) at a decent price. They were quite original with their savage look, the body proportion are a little weird but they still look great. They were metal miniatures sold both in blisters and in boxes.

Mantic Games Berserkers and Abyssal Berserkers: available as metal miniature they are quite interesting since the body proportions are more similar to a normal human body. The good news is that they are cheap, the bad news is that there are few variants available... so if you are building a big unit a lot of soldiers will look the same.

Scibor Miniatures dwarves: if you are looking for some original champions for your unit take a look at Scibor's range (all made in resin). Unfortunately there isn't much choice so you can't build a whole unit of slayers but you can still find some amazing heroes. There are also some creepy looking dwarves

And Finally we have the Avatars of War bersekers! One of the best option available: all made of plastic, with lot of weapons and bits and quite cheap too (here you can find them for about 1 euro for each miniature). And don't forget that AoW has some great champions for your units too.

Preorders for AoW Plastic Dwarven Berserkers start today

Just a reminder, as confirmed yesterday by Felix himself the preorder of the Avatar Of war Plastic Berserkers should start today!
Thee isn't any specific detail about price and component on the AoW shop right now, keep checking!

"Preorder starts tomorrow and release date (and shipping of preorders) is finally confirmed for last week of May (it could be sooner, but to keep safe we agreed this date as official release date).
To reward those who pre-order, the pre-order box wll be a special edition (with a limited run), that will contain exclusive pieces for the command group, which will only be available in this special edition."

AoW Plastic Dwarven Berserkers ships in April!

Great news from Avatars of war forums, the plastic berserkers will be available to preorder from March:

"Pre-order will be this month (with exclusive pre-order bits for the command group). In April pre-ordered boxes will ship, and will be then available to order normally (without the exclusive pre-order bits)."

Dwarven pirates from Black Scorpion (yar!)

I just came across some interesting miniatures from Black Scorpion, in their store you can find some cool loking fantasy pirates and it seems they will also release a fantasy pirates themed game. My favourite ones are af course the Dwarfs

AoW Berserkers are getting even more awesome

Avatar of War will release some great plastic berserkers dwarves, you can find more details at their forum If you need more info take a look at the video preview and some details about the standard bearer (below), no word of an official release date yet. I wish they made a complete range of dwarven miniature!
