Modern and post apocalyptic terrains for 28mm wargames

Just today Mantic Games started their Kickstarter for The Walking Dead miniature game, and just last week Warlord Games announced their very own zombie themed skirmish game... this looks like an excellent excuse to start collecting (or improving) our collection of modern and (why not) post apocalyptic terrain!

On the top of my head I can think of a couple of interesting options:

Mars Attacks! Red brick terrain (official website) (Element Games)

  • PROs: Made of plastic and modular, you can pretty much build what you want
  • CONs: the windows/doors are sealed and the gaps between the tiles are kinda ugly

Sarissa Precision terrains (official website
  • PROs: great quality/cost ratio, easy to assemble
  • CONs: MDF isn't the most durable stuff and it tends to be damaged by water/humidity

Battle Systems Urban Apocalypse Terrain (official website)
  • PROs: it looks great, no painting required and it looks like it can be disassembled and stored easily
  • CONs: it's basically made of thick cardboard and it's somehow expensive

4Ground (official website) (Wayland Games)

  • PROs: already painted and it looks great
  • CONs: made of MDF and kinda expensive
