I had a couple of games using 8th edition rules and what I see more and more are Suicidal Mages... by that I mean chep low level mages that casts destructive magic throwing buckets of dices hoping in multiple 6s (and who cares if they get wiped out after that!) If you think about it make sense, you hope that a cheap mage can cause some massive damage destroying more value of it's points acting selflessy.
On the other hand if you act wil more caution (like I usually play) you may end up having and unuseful mage since if you fail a cast he cannot cast any more spells in the same turn...

I've seen a few players in our group use this "tactic" and it does seem a bit a "gamey". Hopefully if won't become a trend and I'll try to avoid myself.
However if you can't beat them....
